REDDITCH Entaco are on the verge of winning the Worcestershire County League Division Two title after an emphatic 77-run win over Worcester Dominies last Saturday.

With many fixtures abandoned due to the weather the Kingfishers took full advantage with an impressive victory at Evendine Close.

Having lost the toss and losing skipper Greg Chinn for 11, the dynamic duo of Rizwan Choudry (118) and Russell Southwick (121) dominated the bowling.

They added 188 for the second wicket and the runs continued as Redditch declared on 320-9 off 48 overs.

In reply, Dominies started well but the Kingfishers responded with excellent bowling with captain Chinn leading the attack well with 3-17 backed up by Rizwan Choudry (2-42) and Waqas Ali (2-53) as Dominies were bowled out for 243.

Stuart Miles (88) and an unbeaten 60 from John Hancock led the way for the home side.

With nearest rivals Chaddesley Corbett slipping to a losing draw against Wormelow, Redditch have a 47-point lead at the top.

On Saturday, relegation-threatened Alvechurch are the visitors to Bromsgrove Road and need to win.

Victory on Saturday and defeats for Corbett and Feckenham would all but confirm their immediate return to Division One.
