ANDREW Pozzi could not hide his disappointment after failing to make the 110m hurdles final at the Rio Olympics.

The former Alcester schoolboy finished fifth in the semi-finals in a well below par time of 13.67 seconds.

Pozzi had put behind him a host of injuries to win the British title in June and qualify for his seconds games.

He post on social media: “It’s hard to feel anything but disappointment right now.

“Last night I failed to take advantage of an opportunity that I've worked towards since London 2012.

“I've fought relentlessly through constant injury, setbacks and surgeries over the last four years in the hope of making it back to the highest level.

“My performance last night was poor and in no way represents the huge progress we've made.

“I can't thank those who have supported me enough and can only promise to do better next time.”
