GREGOR Morris was one of the stars at the Knights Pharmacy Redditch Summer Open.

The Scottish youngster was in fine form in the under-12s competition, not dropping a set as he saw off Josh Beddis from Wales in the final.

The competition attracted more than 50 entries from around the Midlands and further afield to take part.

The 16 and under boys’ event saw Luke Pycock from Worcester beat Harry Lear from Gloucestershire in the final to take the title.

The winners from both 12 and under and 16 and under age sections also made it to the final of the 14 and under event.

Pycock, 14, was too strong for the young Scot, overpowering Morris, 11, to win the title.

In the the eight and under event, local boy George Hadley finished runner-up losing out to Yorkshire’s Zephram Cochrane in the final.

HDA Redditch has just completed the construction of two new purple and green tennis courts extending the club to a six-court venue.
