ANDREW Robinson saw his hopes of vying for the British middleweight and Commonwealth titles dashed after being edged out by a point.

The Redditch fighter lost on a split decision to Sam Sheedy at the Magna Centre in Rotherham.

Promoter PJ Rowson said: “Andy Robinson did everything we asked of him, he did not take a foot back in the ten rounds and lost by a point at the his opponent’s home venue.

“He can hold his head up high because people can read into that how well he did.”

The bout decided the mandatory challenger for Tommy Langford’s Commonwealth title and also who would challenge British title holder Chris Eubank Jr.

Rowson added: “I have spoken to Andy’s trainer John Costello and we’re going to give it two weeks before assessing what to do next. Andy’s ranking actually rose.”
