REDDITCH Swimming Club youngster Amelia Rodd made a splash at the ASA National Open Water Festival.
The 14-year-old made an impressive debut in her age group at Rother Park in Sheffield, finishing sixth in the final.
Lining up against the very best open water swimmers in Britain, Amelia completed the 1.5-kilometre race in a time of 19 minutes and 19.84 seconds to finish in a remarkable sixth place in her age group, just a few seconds outside the medals. Amelia was also first among the competitors from the West Midlands.

Coach Chris Britt said: “This was a remarkable achievement by Amelia, competing at her first Nationals and swimming in only her second major open water event. Her excellent result here demonstrates the great form that she is in and should give Amelia confidence for her forthcoming swims at the ASA English Summer Nationals in Sheffield.”
