ALCESTER still have an outside chance of finishing runners-up in this season's Wildmoor Spa Men's Tennis League after Stratford wrapped up the title with a 4-0 win over Evesham.

That was after Alcester slipped to third in the table following a 3-1 defeat to Moreton in Marsh.

It leaves Alcester two points behind second placed Ardencote Manor with three more rounds of matches to go.

Alcester's Harry Morley-Cotterell and Barney Williams lost 6-0, 7-5 to Moreton's Gary Jackson and Elliott James.

Tim Kenneally and Tom Edmunds also lost out to Jackson and James 6-2, 7-5 but then secured Alcester's only rubber by beating Brian Lomas and Chris Elliott 4-6, 6-3, 1-0.

Studley are fighting tooth and nail to avoid the drop and did their prospects no harm at all when they clinched a 4-0 win over Claverdon.

Damian Hampton and Martin Richards beat Claverdon's Richard Butler and John Edwards 6-1, 6-4 and then followed up with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Tony Supperstone and Sam Ward.

Studley's second pair of Vince Morrisey and Mark Willmore were equally impressive as they beat Supperstone and Ward 6-4, 6-1 and then went onto inflict a 6-4, 6-2 success over Butler and Edwards.

Redditch HDA remain favourites to win Division One despite losing 3-1 to mid table Pershore.

Snitterfield have moved up to join Alcester B in second spot after beating them 3-1.

But there was still no luck for Studley B who remain rooted to the bottom of the table after suffering a 4-0 defeat to Ardencote B.
