REDDITCH United will have to look for a new manager after boss Liam McDonald moved to Midlands rivals Hednesford Town.

McDonald guided the Reds to second place in the Southern League Premier this season.

But they lost on penalties in the play-off semi-finals to Leamington.

He will be tasked with guiding the Pitmen to promotion in the Northern League Premier after their relegation from National North.

United are set to release a statement but McDonald said of his new appointment this: “I’m excited about the future, having spoken with the club at length it is a challenge that I am up for.

“Hednesford Town are a massive club and I know they had difficulties last season. I know that they have the support base here though and I want them to get behind me and the team.”

“The chairman, Steve Price, is realistic as to where the club is at – that has impressed me that he understands the position we are in.

“I know that it is a rebuilding job and it is something that I am looking forward to and excites me very much.”
