ENGINEERS took advantage of leaders Alcester Nomads’ surprise loss to Jumbo Jet Set to move to the top of the Studley Skittles League.
The clash between Nomads and Jumbos had been evenly poised after three legs but the former, needing 67 pins in the last leg to win, couldn’t maintain their form.
For Jumbos, Len Quartly scored 41 and John McManus (39) and Rob Quartly (33) were in good form.
That allowed Engineers to take the impetus and see off Swan. They were in complete control as they won with ease, thanks to the good form of Ian Greenway (38), Mark Ganderton (35), Pete Clewlow (33) and Dennis Compton (33).
Results: Alcester Nomads 3pts (308 pins), Jumbo Jet Set 8pts (314 pins); Engineers 8pts (317), Swan 3pts (305); Maudslay 10pts (335), Alley Cats 1pt (305); Team BG 1.5pts (290), Well Developed 9.5pts (312); Swingers 2pts (301), Chris & Gerry Show 9pts (311).
