Coventrians 17, Redditch 19
REDDITCH came away from Coventry with a valuable and hard-fought victory in Midlands Division Four West (South).
A good start by the visitors put them 9-0 ahead after three penalties from the golden boot of Tom Saddington.
But some rather strange referee decisions allowed Coventrians to score two breakaway tries which were both converted.
Redditch dominated in all areas and with Matt Allan going over in the corner they were all square at half-time.
The visiting pack and defence held strong throughout and scrum-half James Mills pinched a valuable try to take Redditch into a 19-14 lead. Coventrians awarded a penalty which was converted to set up a close finish.
But the away team held on for victory, with Phil Goddard outstanding and Mark Green and Gareth Davies impressive in defence.
Redditch host Coventry Welsh on Saturday.
