MUCH-IMPROVED Lodge Farmers leapfrogged Well-Developed in the Studley Skittles League after recording a 328-308 victory.

A closely-fought game hinged on the third leg when Well-Developed made a poor score, while Lodge Farmers responded with a good total to lead by 13 pins.

The winners pulled further away on the final leg to win with Chris Prichard making 39, Glyn Morley 38 and Tim Jones 37.

Farmers best was from Martin Brennan (36), Margueritte Bayley (35) and Janina Brennan (34).

Engineers moved to the top of the table after seeing off Alcester Nomads.

Nomads lead by three pins after the first leg, but Engineers responded immediately and then pulled away to record an unexpectedly comprehensive win.

Pete Clewlow was in good form for Engineers with stacks of 12 and 14 in a total of 44, while Mark Ganderton scored 40.

There was a welcome win for Jumbo Jet Set, but it was not without some nervous moments in what was a close game for three legs against Chris and Gerry Show.

Jumbos had at one stage lead by only two pins before opening up a 10 advantage after leg four.

Left 66 to win, C&G Show started well, but could not maintain the momentum. Jumbos’ Pete Battle-Welch topped scored with 36, while Ray Jones and Rob Quartly scored 35 each.

John Hedges made 37 and there were good scores for C&G pair Dave Williams (36) and Angela Guest (35).

Swan edged up the table by comfortably beating Alley Cats, who were a player short.

They looked to be heading for a maximum-points haul after opening up a 21-pin lead after three legs, but Alley Cats narrowly took leg four before tying the last leg to claim consolation points. Janet Mole signed off her skittling days by top-scoring with 36 for Team BG in the narrow win over Swingers.

Mole was well-supported with scores of 35 each from Gail Stringer, Lin Dyer and Rob Baker.

Although there were excellent scores by Swingers’ Paul Clifton (47), Mike Pilkington (42 with a 13 stack) and Larry Hanks (37), they were not enough to inspire the rest of their team as they slumped to a fourth straight loss.
