A BOTTOM-OF-THE-TABLE scrap in the Studley Skittles League saw Swingers defeat, and also close the gap on, Lodge Farmers.

Swingers’ total was their highest score of the season thanks to Brenda Morris, who scored her team’s highest individual score of 43.

She was backed up by Larry Hanks (37) and Mike Pilkington (36).

Lodge Farmers won the first leg but the game then went in Swingers’ favour, who built a lead which Lodge Farmers couldn’t erode despite good scores from Lynne Long (37), Tim Jones (35) and Andy Reynolds (34).

Team BG lost their unbeaten record when they turned in their lowest season’s total to lose to Chris and Gerry Show, and the teams swapped places in the league.

Despite their singles champion Rob Baker being out of touch, Team BG were 16 pins up after three legs but were overhauled in the final two legs.

C&G Show had Craig Sears and John Hall with 33 each and Liz Hall, Paul Hollis and Dave Williams 32 each.

Best for Team BG were Carl Baker (35), Ray Cartwright (33) and 32 each from Lin Dyer and Maggie Reynolds.

The remaining unbeaten team is now Engineers after defeating Maudslay, who are having an unusually indifferent start to the season.

In a high-scoring game, Engineers led by 19 pins after three legs and though Maudslay subsequently put in a great leg score of 77, their opponent needed only 60 to win which was comfortably achieved.

Alcester Nomads stay close to the league leaders following a maximum points haul from a comfortable win against a depleted Alley Cats.

Swan were the biggest climbers in the league after a close win over Well Developed.
