JOHN Halfpenny won the latest Redditch Federation Open fishing match on Arrow Valley Lake.

Of the 18 anglers who fished 14 had catches of over 14lbs.

Halfpenny (Hymatic AC) made no mistake on peg 69 to win with a catch of 27lb 12oz.

Paul Newell was runner-up with 24lb 6oz of skimmers from peg 65 ahead of Barry Cheese with 22lb 11oz on 58 and Alf Hand with 19lb 1oz from peg 29 to win the section on the Shakespeare bank.

Bluebell bank section winner was Mark Carney with 17lb 8oz.

l Dark Lane AC's match on the River Arrow at Alcester on Saturday was won by Keith Jones with 16lbs 3ozs.

In second was Barry Blewett (9lbs 12ozs), followed in third by Pete Lewis (2lbs 7ozs).

The section winners were John Wynes and Dave Gibbs.

On Sunday, Throckmorton AC’s fur and feather was won by Phil Smith with 13lbs 7ozs.

Paul Caswell was second with 8lbs 14ozs, while Tom Moulson (8lbs 13ozs) finished third.

The section winners were Shawn Street (8lbs 1ozs), Andy Peters (6lbs 12ozs) and Pete Lewis 6lbs 12ozs.
