HEART of Worcestershire College student Jack Kelly is pulling on his inline skates and preparing to get for Team GB as he competes in the Europa Inline Cup early next year.

The 16-year-old, who is currently studying Sports Science at the College, started racing in June 2011 for the Birmingham Wheels Roller Speed Club and won his first race in September of that year, a category five 600 metres event.

This year, he's won two individual British Championships, clinching the 300 metres time trial and the half marathon, which are the the shortest and longest events for his age category

Jack has won three individual British Championships, his was first in 2012 aged 13 in the Midi Marathon 5,000 metres event.

The teenager's 300m winning time of 27.941 seconds would have placed him sixth in the senior men and has also helped Birmingham to seal a brace of British Relay Championships titles.

He has also represented Britain at the Junior European Championships in Austria and holds two national records.

His grandfather was Birmingham skating legend Danny Kelly, a former British Champion, World record holder and 1963 World Champion.

He said: “It’s a nice feeling to know that you’re representing your country. Not many people have this opportunity so I’m really pleased that I’ve been given the chance to be a part of Team GB.

I’m feeling really confident about the upcoming event as I know I’ve put the effort and training in. The College have been great too and are really enthusiastic about me being part of Team GB.”
