Alcester 74, Warley 0

DESPITE a number of first- team regulars missing through injury and unavailability, Alcester still managed to run in 12 tries in this one-sided match to record their biggest win of the season.

The Kings Coughton outfit dominated from start to finish against a Warley team who struggled to compete.

Tom Pedley, playing in his first game of the season, opened the scoring with a try early on before No.8 Meka Pieri followed up with two scores in quick succession, both of which were converted by full back Josh Godson.

Before the interval, Alcester stretched their lead to 41 points with tries from Ben Hope, Godson (2) and a hat- trick try from the superb Pieri.

Going down the slope the sec - ond half was no easier for the visitors, with Alcester holding form and playing disciplined rugby despite their big lead.

Promoted from last week’s second team, lock Matt Johnson put in his best perfor - mance for the senior side, while hooker Michael Nason continues to improve after moving into the front row at the start of this season.

The second half ‘s first try came from captain Jack Green.

Playing out of position at scrum half, last season’s top try scorer opened his account for this season before Pedley ran in for his second of the day.

Further tries came from fly half Glynn Smith and two from teenager Lewis Walker, who won the man-of-the-match award for his energetic back- row game which put pressure on the opposition throughout.

Full back Godson kicked seven successful conversions, which took his points tally for the game to 24 points.

Alcester return to league action next weekend when they are in local derby action against neighbours Claverdon on what is King’s Coughton president Andy Miller’s annu - al lunch day for invited guests.
