REDDITCH opened their home campaign in the Midlands Division Four West (South) with a 19-17 win over Old Coventrians on Saturday.

Old Covs had the better of the first half using their sun and an attacking option.

Great displays by their stand off and the wingers allowed them to go in half-time leading 17-0.

The game was halted for 30 mins due to the fact that two ambulances were needed on the scene for injuries to the Old Covs players.

After a fine team talk at half time and a few changed Redditch woke up and came out the blocks.

Ever reliant Tom Saddington crossed the line for a converted try and closely followed by Mark Green.

Fine displays by the Kingfishers forwards put Old Covs on the back foot on most scrums allowing Matt Allen to cross for another try.

Saddington touched down again to put Redditch in front and secure the home win.

A big mention must go to Bryn Williams for some outstanding running and also to Sam Albert for a man of the match display.

Redditch are away to Coventry Welsh on Saturday (3pm ko).
