REDDITCH HDA finished the summer season with a strong showing at the annual junior and senior county closed tournament, which was held at Manor Park.

The event attracted the best players from Herefordshire and Worcestershire all competing to be crowned county champions for their age group.

Redditch players Jack Smith and Alex Maggs met in the 18s and under final, with the former recording a solid 6-2, 6-2 win.

Joseph Wherry finished third after beating Malvern's Tobie Timmermans 6-1, 6-4.

Alex Maggs also made it to the 16&U final and played some of his best tennis to beat Oliver Nunn 6-3, 6-2.

Felix Gill progressed to the 14&U final without dropping a set and continued his good form beating Joe Hart from Bromsgrove 6-1, 6-4.

Max Hingley reached the 12&U final and had a battle on his hands, losing out to Harry Friend from Ross 7-5, 6-3.

Sophia Jenkins-Howard had to fight back from one set down in the 10&U girls final to see off Malvern player Lois Burgess 3-5, 4-2, 10-6.

In the doubles, Jack Smith won both men's and 18&U boys doubles titles with partner Timmermans.

The 14&U boys doubles final was between four Redditch players with Maggs and Gill beating Joseph Morris and Matt Sime 6-3, 6-2.

Scott Mortimer paired up with Imogen Sinclair from Bromsgrove to take the 14&U mixed title.

Owen Perry clinched the 10&U boys doubles partnering Patrick Niedzwiedz from Bromsgrove.

Sisters Kiyyah and Latesha Grant were runners-up in the 12&U girls doubles and Maggs and Wherry were second in the 16&U boys doubles.

The South Warwickshire 12&U boys final and annual adult and junior presentation was held on Sunday at Henley-in-Arden Tennis Club.

Redditch retained the boys doubles title for the third year running, with Harvey Ravenscroft and Scott Mortimer beat Henley duo Louis Walsh and Alex Evans in a closely fought match 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.
