MANAGER Liam McDonald defended his selection policy as Redditch United continued their resurgence in the Southern League Premier.

Goals for Daniel Dubidat and George Carline saw United battle back from a goal down as they defeated bottom side Bedworth United 2-1 on Saturday.

Redditch are unbeaten in seven games and have won the last three to move up to 12th in the table.

But McDonald has reacted to criticism from supporters who were disgruntled with his side's slow start to the season.

He said: "We do our homework on the sides we play and as a result of that we make changes to the team.

"I am not a manager who would ever make wholesale changes and there will be players who will be regulars in the team.

"But I will always make one or two if I feel it will help our cause.

"We're unbeaten in seven games and have won the last three, so I feel we're doing something right."

United now turn their attentions to the FA Cup first qualifying round when they go to Hinckley AFC on Saturday (3pm ko).

The Leicestershire outfit defeated ten men Bromsgrove Sporting 6-2 to secure the tie but McDonald is not taking United's lower league opposition for granted.

He said: "Hinckley have players who could play at a higher level, so we'll be taking them very seriously indeed.

"I was pleased with the character we displayed at Bedworth. People expected us to win that game but we needed to work hard.

"I had a good chat with the players at half-time about the areas we could hurt Bedworth and I was happy with the players' response."

Meanwhile, midfielder Liam Spink has left Redditch to join Bromsgrove Sporting in a bid to find more first team football.
