REDDITCH'S relegation worries increased after they suffered a heavy derby loss to derby rivals Droitwich in Worcestershire County League Division One.

The Kingfishers suffered a seventh defeat of the season as they found high-flying rivals in brilliant form.

Droitwich had won the toss and opted to bowl first and the away side were skittled for 191 in 50 overs.

Brothers Max and Jake Young were part of a bowling attack which held the Redditch innings in check throughout on a superb batting track – only 63 runs being scored in the first 20 overs.

An excellent fielding display in which wicketkeeper Jay De Costa claimed five victims also made sure the visitors were unable to build any momentum.

The Youngs then shared an opening stand of 151 to guide Spa to a comfortable nine-wicket win over Redditch with more than 11 overs to spare.

Max blazed 79 and his younger sibling crafted a delightful 54 not out as the home side breezed past their victory target of 191.

Defeat means Redditch are hovering over the relegation zone.

They now face a huge game at home to Bromyard, who are one place and 15 points ahead of Redditch, on Saturday (1pm start).
