TEAMS from Alcester BC enjoyed a very busy week with cup and rearranged games which saw them bowl twice on some days.

One of the highlights was the Thursday A team, in the third round of the Heart of England Cup, defeatng Yardley Wood Social to progress to the quarter finals.

Another success was playing Tanworth in Arden in the Sunday Northfield league on their green and winning the match with five winning games out of eight.

This week the Tuesday A team continue their winning streak by winning their match at Henley in Arden against Henley B, with all six winning games to Alcester.

Carole Slater the star with a 21-2 win, John Slater 21-6, Renny Bannister and Ken Harvey 21-13, Jean Bannister 21-14 and Margaret D’Elia 21-11.

The B team also won their match against Co-op C at home with five out of six winners and winning the match by 30 shots.

In the Yardley Wood League, Alcester A were away to Warstock and could only produce one winning card, Ken Harvey 21-15.

The B team were at home to Bournville Sports B and had two excellent cards, Margaret D’Elia and Gill Evens both 21-2, supported by Red Masterson 21-12 and Gordon Parker 21-17, winning the match 145 shots to 117.

Thursday night of the Heart of England League had Alcester A at home to Henley A with a convincing 15 points to three winning match, with wins for John Slater 21-5, Renny Bannister 21-7, John Alderson 21-10, Jean Bannister 21-18 and Ken Harvey 21-20.

The Thursday B team were away to Hockley Heath B and narrowly lost the match by eight shots.

They had three winning games, Margaret D’Elia 21-8, Val McDermott 21-4 and Eric Allport 21-11. These were supported by returning bowler, David Sutor playing his first match since 2012, with a well played 20-21 result.

In Friday’s over-60s League the A team were away to rivals White Hart A and after only one winner.

D’Elia with an excellent 21-9, the overall shots were 100 to 114.

The B team played Solihull Ladies and finished with five winning cards, Tricia Barry and Val McDermott both 21-5, David Hodgson 21-6, Eric Allport 21-16 and John Williamson 21-20.
