HOPWOOD-based Kings Norton hosted the Worcestershire Union County Championships, which saw a strong Redditch side come out on top.

Moseley were second and the hosts, represented by the 'A' team of Lee Jones, Martin Mahon and Darren Smith and 'B' Team of Rob Goodyer, Ian Martin and James Berwick, and finished eighth overall.

Bransford's Oliver Walker won the individual strokeplay event over 36 holes, recording an overall gross score of 145.

Second was Josh McMahon from Redditch with 148 and Tom Godfrey from Fulford finished third on 150.

James Berwick was the best-placed Kings Norton player finishing 12th on 154.

The club held their junior championship for eight to 15-year-olds, which saw Daniel Healey shooting a brilliant three under par to finish on a nett score of 27.

Margaret Stiles and Valerie Ensor clinched the Jean Evans salver, ahead of Sue Yau and Lorna Michell.

The Nine Hole Stableford was played on 10th June this was won by Robert Miller with 18 points and Anthony Egan came a close second with 17 points.
