ALVECHURCH boss Lee Knight will be keeping his fingers crossed that a busy final week of the season does not hamper their hopes of winning the JW Hunt Cup.

Church booked their place in the last four of the competition after defeating Wolverhampton Sporting 2-0 last Thursday.

They will meet either Sporting Khalsa or Tividale in the semi-final, which will be played on Thursday, April 23.

The winners will then play Stone OA at Wolverhampton Wanderer's Molineux ground.

Goals for Dmitri Dunkley and Ben Markall sealed Church's progress but with four games in the space of a week, Knight is worried that so many matches could result in a spare of injuries.

Knight said: "This was a very big game for us and the lads came through it well.

"We scored two very good goals but also looked in control against a good side.

"It's great to get this far and whoever we get in the semi-final is going to be very tough.

"But we've got a lot of games in the final week and I will have to make sure we change things around for each game to make sure everyone is fresh and we avoid injuries."

Alvechurch then lost 2-1 to Coleshill on Saturday, despite Michael McGrath firing the Lye Meadow outfit into a lead with a well-struck free-kick.

Church kick-off a hectic final period with a home game against Quorn on Saturday (3pm ko), followed by entertaining Long Eaton United on Tuesday (7.45pm ko).

Alvechurch go to Heath Hayes on Thursday (7.45pm ko) and complete the season at AFC Wulfrunians on April 25.
