Kings Norton 7, Evesham 50

INJURY hit Kings Norton were were no match for second-placed Evesham in their final home game of the season in the Midlands Division Four West (South).

The hosts took the an early lead when Rob McGhee ran 20 metres through the visitors' defence to touch down close to the posts after just five minutes, and Shane Rees converted.

But it soon became apparent that the visitors' pack was stronger and they gave Kings a hard time especially in the set pieces.

Evesham's backs were given plenty of ball to attack with and, despite stern defence, were able to frequently break the line to score.

After drawing level with a breakaway try under the posts, a pushover score followed and Evesham scored another four tries to end the half well in the ascendency.

Norton reorganised after the break and enjoyed more possession, but Evesham bagged two more converted tries.

Kings will lick their wounds and regroup before their final league match after Easter with an away derby against neighbours Five Ways on Saturday, April 11 (3pm ko).

They are also awaiting who they will play in the North Midlands RFU Vase semi-final on April 18, with the opposition being either Cleobury Mortimer or Bishops Castle.
