ALCESTER seconds suffered a 24-12 loss to Old Patesians thirds on Saturday.

The Kings Coughton outfit picked up Cheltenham-based Old Patesians, from the fixture pool after their original opponents, Kidderminster Carolians, pulled out on Thursday.

The visitors, whose first ream play in the national leagues travelled with only 13 players, but were lent two by Alcester, as they had a whole team on the sidelines due to the inactivity of the senior side. Old Pats opened the scoring when the on-loan Scott Carmichael jinked his way through to touch down. They then bagged a second to take a 12-0 lead into half-time.

In the second half, Harry Abell got Alcester on the scoreboard with a good try, before Ben Hope doubled the account. Matt Ashby converted both scores well. The home side’s ascendancy was ended by a third try for Old Patesians, before Carmichael killed off the game with a fourth for the away side.

The U16s drew 12-12 against Leamington. There were tries for Tom Goddard asnd Jamie Harland, while Josh O’Connor added a conversion.
