REDDITCH Hockey Club’s Ladies produced a battling display to earn a 1-1 draw against Pershore in Worcestershire League Division One.

Despite being down a player, the Kingfishers matched the home side but Pershore opened the scoring to go in leading 1-0 at half time.

Redditch improved in the second half and Jo Williams bagged a leveller.

Emma Foster kept the scores equal when she cleared an effort off the line.

Second-placed Redditch go to Barford Tigers on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Men’s team suffered a 6-1 defeat to local rivals Bromsgrove in the West Midlands Division One.

They only had themselves to blame as they put themselves in a difficult position after some poor discipline playing almost half of the game with ten men.

Peter Dawson scored their only goal, but Tom Green, Alex Jenkins, Tom Jennings (2), Jakob Lampert and Mark Robinson all hit the back of the net for Bromsgrove.

Redditch tackle Wednesbury away on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Seconds suffered a 3-0 defeat in Ludlow.

The away side started slowly and ‘keeper Hound Cardy was beaten by Tom Ashton for the opening goal.

Redditch hit back but Jake Watts doubled Ludlow’s lead.

Graeme Wilcox then bagged a third to seal the Worcestershire side’s defeat.

Meanwhile, the Thirds went down 4-1 to Bromsgrove at Trinity High School, with Conor Adams hitting the back of the net.
