ALCESTER were awarded a bonus point victory in a home ‘win’ after Coventry Technical pulled out of their Midlands Division Five clash.
The strugglers from Coventry, still without a victory this season, are desperately trying to keep a side together at the present time and had to concede a second game so far this season, without taking to the field.
Alcester are in National Junior Vase Round Two action next weekend when they host Yardley and District for a 2.15pm kick-off.
The seconds were edged out 24-22 by Old Halesonians.
Right winger Alex Chiles, making his first senior start, was deservedly named as man of the match for a debut brace of tries as well as a brave defensive performance against bigger and much more experienced opponents.
With Glen Marriott in their ranks, Old Hales scored first when they took advantage of some slack home defence, before the home side hit back through Chiles’ first try.
The Kings Coughton men were dealt a further injury blow when another of their more experienced number, Rikki Bowers, was forced off with a knee injury.
Glynn Smith scored two tries as the seconds demonstrated lots of promise.
