ADRIAN Mander admitted he was shocked by his team’s performance as Studley slumped to a disappointing 3-0 loss at home to Southam in the Midlands Football League Division One.

The Bees saw their five game unbeaten run come to an end on Saturday as they surrendered to their mid-table rivals thanks to goals for Louis Bridges (2) and Matt Hunt.

In recent weeks, Studley had knocked higher level Coventry Sphinx out of the FA Vase and had defeat Lye 2-1 in the Worcestershire Senior Urn.

But they fell below their recent level of performance.

Mander said: “I am shocked by the performance, it was just not good enough.

“We had been playing really well so I did not see that performance or result coming.

“Our defending was awful and the only positive I can take from it is that we can learn from this display.

“There was no energy or appetite.”

Studley, who were set to face Racing Club Warwick away last night, tackle Southam again, away on Saturday (3pm) in the Les James Challenge Cup. Josh McKenzie will complete his three-match ban this week, while the Bees are trying to bring in Danny Povey from Coventry Copsewood.

Mander said: “It’s good that we’ve got Southam coming up again so soon.

“We obviously owe them and it’s up to the players to put it right.”
