Kings Norton 28 Yardley and District 11
KINGS Norton began their 2014-5 campaign with a workman like victory over their spiky visitors from Birmingham in the North Midlands Shield.
Chris Mynot scored a try for Kings after good work by Will Greenwood and Chris Hands, while Shane Rees converted.
Yardley scored a penalty but Ben Boyce powered over for a second Norton try which was once again converted.
Both sides scored penalties but Rob McGhee touched down and Rees converted.
Rees added a penalty just before the break. During a tight second half, Norton competed the scoring with three more points.
Kings begin the Midlands Four West South on Saturday at home to to Five Ways Old Edwardians (3pm ko).
