Dunstable Town 2, Redditch United 1

AFTER five consecutive victories Redditch United’s run of wins came to a halt as Dunstable came from behind to take all three points.

Despite taking the lead inside a minute, the Reds were pegged back either side of half-time by newly-promoted Dunstable who just edged an even clash.

It was summer signing George Carline who struck early, profiting from Jamie Molyneux’s fine approach play to slot in his first goal for the club.

The visitors looked in the mood, and were unfortunate not to extend their lead as Molyneux struck the woodwork on 25 minutes.

Home keeper Luke Chambers then saved well from Jermaine Hylton before his side struck an equaliser when the impressive Charlie Henry turned and fired beyond Sam Hornby, who would have probably hoped to have done better with the effort.

A similarly bright start from Liam McDonald’s men followed in the second period as Ashley Sammons saw his shot parried by Chambers on 55 minutes before the in-form Jamie Spencer fired wide on the hour.

Calum Flanagan helped keep the score level as he blocked Chris Marsh’s goal bound strike while at the other end, Sammons failed to beat Chambers when clean through.

Those missed chances proved costly for the Reds when, 16 minutes from time, Henry burst down the left before cutting inside and smashing a shot past Hornby.

Carline should have doubled his tally when well placed with nine minutes left but fired over wastefully as his side left empty-handed.
