St Neots Town 0, Redditch United 3

Rampant Reds swept aside another of the title favourites, romping to a convincing victory over their big-spending hosts.

Two goals from Ashley Sammons – one from the penalty spot – and a Jamie Molyneux effort separated the sides at the end but this was a dazzling all-round United display.

And even when the Saints did manage to break through the visitors’ solid defence, they found Sam Hornby blocking their way as the youngster pulled off two excellent saves before the break.

It was Sammons who opened the scoring on 25 minutes when he latched on to a short corner and drilled his shot past keeper Nathan Abbey from 18 yards.

The home side threatened to hit back but Hornby did well to keep out a Nathan Frater shot before tipping over an Arthur Lee effort on the half-hour.

At the other end, Abbey saved well from Leavi Oshungbure and Jermaine Hylton before the latter had an effort chalked off moments later after the ball had gone out of play.

On the stroke of half-time, Oshungbure had another excellent chance but Abbey was again equal to it.

The second period was even more one-sided than the first with the Reds dominating the chances.

After Hylton had an effort saved, Abbey did well to deny Jamie Molyneux after he had gone on a storming 40-yard run.

And it was Molyneux who was fouled for the penalty on the hour that saw Sammons double the lead, his spot kick sending the Saints keeper the wrong way.

Eight minutes later and the rout was complete, Molyneux tapping home the loose ball after Abbey was pushed away a Liam Spink shot.

There should have been a fourth for the visitors a minute later when a great run by Hylton ended with him firing against the upright.
