Alcester's Northfield league team suffered another heavy defeat in division 2, going down by 50 shots at the difficult West Warwicks green. With only 2 winners (Dave Hovell 21-11 and John Alderson 21-17), Alcester gained just 2 league points against their hosts 8. This leaves Alcester in bottom place in the division, 10 points from safety, with relegation looking a distinct possibility.

Things look much brighter in the Yardley Wood league, with both Alcester teams producing wins for the second week in succession. In division 2, the A team travelled to Grasshopper and came away with 8 league points from their 22 shot victory to move into second place in the division. Alcester's winning cards came from Dave Hovell with a superb 21-6, Ken Harvey (21-10), Ken Craddock (21-16), Renny Bannister (21-18) and John Slater (21-19).

In division 4, the B team gained an excellent 43 shot home win against King George VI B to pick up 8 league points to the visitors 2. Alcester's star was David Hodgson with a 21-5 success, with Jean Craddock (21-10), Val McDermott (21-13), Jean Sherrington (21-14), Margaret D'Elia (21-17) and Trish Barry (21-18) all adding to the points tally.

The promotion hopes of both Alcester teams suffered setbacks in the Heart of England league. In division 2 the A team went down by just 5 shots at home to promotion rivals Kings Norton Ex Service, gaining only 4 points against the visitors 14. Winners for Alcester were Bob Le Resche (21-10), Dave Hovell and John Alderson (both 21-15) and Ken Harvey (21-18).

Although losing heavily by 55 shots in division 5 when they visited Bournville Sports, the B still remain in the second promotion spot. They picked up just 3 league points, whilst their hosts gained 15. Alcester's 3 winners were Jean Sherrington (21-13), Trish Barry (21-17) and Renny Bannister (21-18).

Heart of England's Over 60's section produced a massive defeat for Alcester's A team when they travelled to Ye Olde Knowle. No visiting side ever look forward to playing this difficult green, but Alcester would have hoped for something better than an 85 shot mauling, and no winning cards. Thus the home side gleaned 16 league points against Alcester's nil.

In division 6 the Alcester B side gained maximum points with a superb 58 shot success at home to Co-Op C. Margaret D'Elia produced a magnificent 21-3 card to lead the way, with Val McDermott and Terry Scott (both 21-10), David Hodgson (21-11) and Cedric Robertshaw and Jean Craddock (both 21-17) all contributing to the 16 league points haul.
