STUDLEY head into the Warwickshire County League Division One having said a fond farewell to two of their most reliable players.

Batsman and former skipper Brandon Miller has joined local rivals Astwood Bank, while bowler Stuart Harris also looks set to move to another club before the 2014 season starts.

Studley have drafted in seam bowler Glen Lacey, who was previously at the club, who had been playing for Cookhill.

South African all rounder Barrie Forrester-Smith, who holds a British passport, has also bolstered what is a youthful Studley first team.

The 18-year-old has played for KwaZulu-Natal Inland Under-17 and 19s.

Captain Stephen Rose is also close to being fit after under going hip surgery during the winter.

He said: "We wish Stuart and Brandon the best of luck.

"They have been superb players for us over the years and they go on with our blessing.

"Both have have with Studley for many years and we hope they will return.

"But we've added Barrie who is very eager to get started, while Glen we know well from his first spell at the club."

Studley played Feckenham this weekend in a warm-up match, before commencing their league campaign at home to Coleshill on Saturday, April 26 (1pm start).

After being relegated from the Birmingam League two years ago, Studley stabilised in 2013 and ended the season strongly.

Rose added: "The team is very young but it is time for them to step up and make a difference.

"Promotion in the next few years is the ultimate aim but I think at the moment we will take every game as it comes."
