Henry shines as Kingfishers are frustrated

SOUTH African run-machine Henry Moorcroft filled his boots with a superb century but Redditch were frustrated as relegation-battling Burghill and Tillington earned a share of the spoils in the Worcestershire County League Division One on Saturday.
Moorcroft bagged 118 runs off 104 ball as the Kingfishers posted a might 305-6 in their 50 overs.
But the visitors took a liking to the Bromsgrove Road wicket and made 233-7 in reply to restrict Redditch to 15 points.
Tom Phelan also shone with the bat for the home side with a quickfire 81 off 62 balls.
Captain Perry Derrick said: “Henry scored a high quality innings, he’s played extremely well for us this season.
“But Thomas Phelan also did well and it was great to see the batsmen bounce back after a poor performance last week."
Redditch are fifth in the table but Derrick is targeting four finish.
With seven matches of the season left, they are only eight points behind fourth-placed Bromyard.
“If you look at where we were last season and where we are now there’s no doubting we’ve came a long way and a top four place would reflect that,” added the skipper.
“We’ve had a good season and if we continue to play like a team then we can have a good finish to the season.”
Redditch face another tough test on Saturday as they take on sixth-placed Belbroughton in the league (1.30pm start).
