Nomads suffer first defeat

SKITTLES: Alcester Nomads tasted their first defeat of the season in the Studley League after losing to Chris and Gerry Show 322-309.

Despite needing a formidable 72 wins in the final leg to bag victory, C&G Show did so comfortably by grabbing 85 thanks to the efforts of Rita Passey, Dave Williams and John Hall.

Leaders, Maudslay, took full advantage of Nomads’ slip by gaining maximum points when easily beating Well Developed.

Only three players from Maudslay failed to score 34 or more pins with Mark Sanseverino (40) and Tim Greenaway (36) setting a high standard.

Also taking advantage of Nomads slip were Engineers, who also recorded maximum points to move within touching distance of Nomads.

Engineers opponents, Alley Cats, paid the price for playing the game two players short and had, by far, their poorest game of the season.

Results: C&G Show 322, Alcester Nomads 309; Well Developed 272, Maudslay 341; Alley Cats 226, Engineers 275, 314; Swingers 290, Mixtures 291; Team BG 304.
