MARK Appleton was in excllent form for Bromsgrove and Redditch AC in the final fixture of the Gloucester Cross Country League at Plock Court on Saturday.

In a field of just over 140 runners, Appleton finished first for the club in 11th position.

He was followed by Joe Smith (17th), Kevin Lanckham (21st), James Hood (26th), Andrew Freeman (57th), Dean Hartshorne (61st), Ian Keyte (77th), Jamie Dancyger (81st), Peter Hawcroft (97th) and Ian Nutter (113th).

The women had a brilliant event with Sally Hogan taking sixth place, Tamara Ball not far behind in 14th and Melanie Hepke finishing 19th.

Charlotte Ball then took 35th, Jayne Parsons 47th, Jane Anderson 52nd and Ann Stuart 57th.

The under-17s ladies race saw a win for Orianna Ball who placed second in the overall under-17s category competition.

Hogan also achieved second in the under-20s overall competition and Charlotte Ball was runner-up in the over-50 female category.

Finally, good, consistent results over the four fixtures in the Gloucester League team competition provided bronze medals for the senior women’s team.
