Woodrush 14, Pershore 40

A FINE second half fight back was not enough as Woodrush slipped to a derby defeat on Saturday in the Midlands Division Three West (South).

The week's melting snow and continual rain again took their toll on the Icknield Street pitches.

But the game went ahead regardless and Pershore's forward power led the way with five first half tries giving a them a 33-0 lead at the turnaround to hand them an unassailable advantage.

The home side though showed some resilience in the second half and actually won the second period 14-7 thanks to tries from centre James Evans and lock Luke Russell, both converted by Josh Tomlinson, with the visitors recording just one try after what seemed to be a forward pass.

Woodrush are again at home on Saturday when they entertain Old Wheatleyans in a game postponed from before Christmas (2.15pm ko).
