REDDITCH BMX star Libby Smith is The Advertiser/Chronicle’s Sports Personality of the Year after topping our online vote.
The gifted Greenlands girl emerged triumphant to win a fierce battle.
She saw saw off the challenge of Alcester Olympic gold medallist Nick Skelton, 110m hurdler Andrew Pozzi, partially-sighted cricketer Luke Sugg and Paralympic bronze medallist Katrina Hart.
Smith, who is a member of Redditch Premiers, enjoyed a fine 2012, winning the Midlands and East Anglia Championships and topping the region’s rankings.
For her reaction to the success, read next week’s edition of the Advertiser/Chronicle.
