BOTTOM side Swingers stunned Jumbos to bag only their second win of the season in the Studley Skittles League.

Swingers scored 354 pins, the season’s highest team pin total, and were inspired by captan Brenda Morris scorin 50 to matches the season’s best tally.

Her teammates, Mike Pilkington (38 pins), Margaret Hendy (36) and 35’s from Larry Hanks and Judith Clews all scored very heavily.

Maudslay and Alcester Nomads remain unbeaten and meet for a mouth-watering confrontation in the coming week with Maudslay perhaps the slight favourites.

Maudslay saw off nine-man Mixtures very comfortably with Tim Greenaway notching 39, Geoff Mayneord 38 and Mark Sanseverino 37. For Mixtures, only Gwyn with 35 bowled well.

Alcester Nomads had to win an extremely tight encounter against Engineers to stay unbeaten.

With never more than a few points between the teams at any stage, both had 74 pin legs, and Engineers, left 69 to win the game, bowled well but fell a single pin short.

Team BG could not get the required points as they lost a low-scoring game to Lodge Farmers.

As a result of Swingers’ surprise second win, Trouble Makers needed to beat Well Developed if they were not to drop to bottom place.

But Well Developed were not in a charitable mood as Liz Hindson (38), Ron (35) and captain David Searle (34), scored well to lead them to a deserved fairly easy win. Michelle Walley (36), and 32 each from Michelle Baskill and Marci Beauchamp were never enough to keep Trouble Makers in with a chance.

Results: Swingers 354 pins, Jumbo Jet Set 326; Maudslay 313, Mixtures 265; Engineers 322, Alcester Nomads 323; Team BG 308, Lodge Farmers 310; Trouble Makers 263, Well Developed 294.
