THREE members of Bromsgrove and Redditch AC produced strong displays to finish in the top 20 of the Birmingham League Division Two Cross Country Competition in Leamington on Saturday.

The event saw 216 competitors take part, with Cannock and Staffordshire athlete Chris Perrin victotious in the 35 minutes and 12 seconds.

But BRAC runners were also in good form and first home for the club was Rich Lomas, who came 14th in 37.59.

Next in was Adam Lloyd, who finished an impressive 18th on his cross country debut for the club in 38.30, while hot on his heels was David Gemmell (19th, 38.34).

In 25th place was Simon Lanckham (38.46) followed by Mark Appleton (55th, 41.31), Andrew Freeman (58th, 41.38), Kevin Lanckham (65th, 42.12), Mark Graham (106th, 44.25), Darryll Thomas (111th, 44.40), Dean Hartshorne (113th, 44.45), Paul Atkins (119th, 45.15), Philip Richardson (137th, 46.29), Jamie Dancyger (162nd, 49.25), Phil Anderson (167th, 49.38) and Ian Nutter (170th, 49.49).

Meanwhile, Matt Hawcroft won the Marlow Half Marathon in a time of one hour 16.20, which was just over a minute faster than the second-placed athlete Hajimi Ohsawa (1h 17.49).

Heavy rain meant the course was flooded in many places and at one point athletes had to run through freezing water about a foot deep before climbing for a mile where the water flowed down the road like a stream.
