Kings reign over Pershore

Pershore 13 Kings Norton 60

KINGS Norton ran in nine tries to record a thumping win at Pershore in Midlands Three West (South).

The depleted hosts were unable to cope with the hot and dry conditions and Kings were always in command of an entertaining and open game.

Pershore pressured their visitors for the opening 15 minutes but couldn’t penetrate, with Chris Carlin putting Kings in front with a couple of early penalties.

The visitors scored their opening try when debutant winger Jack Guy finished off a fast flowing move created by Jack Fairhurst, who then went over himself following a long clearance.

Pershore hit back with a try of their own but Kings were looking dangerous all the time and Carlin converted his own score to hand them a 25-8 half-time lead.

The hosts forward line tired through the second-half and the visitors took full advantage, scoring six more tries.

First, Fairhurst finished well after skipper and scrum-half Gareth Westwater had put him away, before Carlin got his second and Louis Stelling added another from full-back.

Outside centre Gareth Johnson scored after a superb effort which saw him run through a number of Pershore tackles.

The hosts managed to score a second themselves but further efforts from Johnson and back row Tom Hatfield completed the rout.

Kings Norton are in league action at home on Saturday when they entertain Warwickshire side Southam (kick-off 3pm).
