Studley back in danger
7:00pm Thursday 6th September 2012 in Sport
STUDLEY have two matches to escape relegation after a defeat to Aston Manor saw them slip back into the bottom four in the Birmingham and District League Division Three on Saturday.
The Warwickshire outfit are 16 points behind Penn and have home clashes against Streetly and promotion contenders Stourbridge.
But they must get over a 48-run loss to second-placed Aston Manor at the weekend, if they are to ensure their place in the Birmingham League for another year.
Captain Mark Swanick won the toss and decided to put the pressure on their opponents by putting them into bat.
Johar Ahmed, who took 3-1, made an early breakthrough when he had Darren Baker caught on seven by Chris Perrins.
The bowler then caught Chris Clement (23) off the bowling of Swanick.
The Studley pair continued to terrorise Aston and after the top order were removed, Manor ended on 171.
In reply, Studley got off to a bad start as they lost openers Chris Moss (11) and Omad Nazir (6) but Brandon Miller battled back with 40, before he was bowled by Brinder Phagura.
Swanick (41) also made a contribution with the bat before he was bowled by Amardeep Sonkar.
With Stuart Harris absent, Studley were a man down and they were dismissed for 123.
