Pair are fighting until the end

THE Worcestershire League Division Two relegation battle is set to go down to the wire after a frustrating Bank Holiday weekend for Feckenham and Alvechurch and Hopwood.

With two games left survival is still up for grabs for both sides.

Feckenham are second from bottom on 147 points, with Alvechurch two places higher and with three points more.

The two sides saw Monday’s derby abandoned because of rain.

Matt Hayward top-scored for Alvechurch with 73 as they made 236-7, with Matt Kings taking three wickets for Feckenham. That was enough to earn the Churchmen a vital nine points.

That came after their match against Bewdley abandoned on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Feckenham could only manage a losing draw against Stourport. Yesir Mehmood took 4-77 as the Wyre Forest outfit posted 208-7 declared. In reply, Daniel Bloomer top-scored with 28 as Feckenham hit 123-9.
