RUGBY UNION
WOODRUSH reached the Midland Division quarter-finals of the RFU Senior Vase, beating Wednesbury 27-3 with a solid second half display after the first session had been lost to the elements and ended in a stalemate.
Playing in atrocious conditions, the teams swapped ends level at 3-3 with the torrential rain and gail force winds preventing any enterprising rugby being played.
With the conditions easing in the second half, Woodrush were able to put some moves together.
Scrum-half Titch Thomas scored the first try.
Thomas was also involved in the second try when he passed inside to Lucas Hooper who was able to score under the posts.
Then Steve Smart scored a try after being fed by Thomas.
Woodrush travel to bottom of the league Ledbury in a Midland Three West (South) game on Saturday.

With the first team out of action, the latest event in the club’s Golden Jubilee season programme took centre stage, with an experienced past team featuring six former club captains, prevailing over a youthful mainly seconds outfit.
Playing with the wind and slope at their backs in the first half, the past side soon took control and went close to taking the lead, when former first team fly half Keith Rees went just wide with a trademark, well struck drop goal attempt.
It was not long though before the mainly veteran side did take the lead, with one of their guest players Sam Kerry crossing the line for the first score.
He doubled his and his side’s tally moments later with another try, which Rees improved with the conversion, before Steve Keen crashed over to give his side a healthy 17-0 lead at the break.
The present side were more competitive in the second half, but they were still no match for their more streetwise opponents, who remained in command.
Former first team prop Domi Knockings capped a fine display by rounding off the move of the game involving Reest and his half back partner Andy Hulbard for a fourth try, before Joe Davis went over in the corner.
