Redditch lose four out of five


REDDITCH CC had a poor weekend, losing four out of their five fixtures.

The first team lost at Barnards Green by 94 runs.

Nev Mason was the pick of the Redditch bowlers with three for 53 as Barnards Green scored 240-9.

In reply Redditch got of to a good start, putting on 50 for the first wicket, but then slumped to 63 for three and never really recovered to be dismissed for 146.

Adam Gailey with 42 and Dan Friedrich with 48 were the pick of the Redditch batsmen.

On Sunday, a weakened Redditch lost to Studley by 34 runs.

Studley batted first and scored 294 for five off their 45 overs with Geoff Eley taking four for 29.

In reply, Redditch scored 260 all out with Dan Friedrich top scoring with 58 and Matt Grubb 52.

The second team lost on Saturday to Barnards Green at home by seven wickets and to Studley by seven wickets on Sunday.

The third team beat Moseley by six wickets.

lAlcester and Ragley lost their unbeaten home record for this season , going down to Rowington by five wickets at Ragley Hall.

Ragley were asked to bat and struggled to 64 for three in 22 overs, the n 93 for five after 31 overs.

Adam Devey and Ricky Allan added 77 in nine overs before Allan was unfortunately run out for 71 by a direct hit. Devey (31) made some useful runs in the final overs to lift the score to 211-9.

Marc Woolley finished with the best figures for Alcester and Ragley, two for 31 from nine overs as Rowington passed their target for the loss of five wickets.

Entaco CC slipped further down the West Midland Third XI Premier League table after a four wicket defeat at Old Edwardians.

Batting first, Entaco could only muster 147 for nine off their 50 overs.

Page (49) and Gardiner (40) were the only two batsmen to make a significant contribution.

Entaco needed early wickets and reduced the home side to 24 for three before Chris Lloyd-Smith launched a blistering attack on the Entaco bowlers,scoring 96 not out off just 58 balls to see the home side home to a comfortable victory with 25 overs to spare.

Page was the pick of the Entaco bowlers taking four for 40 off ten overs.

Moseley Thirds are the visitors this weekend (1pm)
