Full speed ahead for Paul

REDDITCH based design consultancy Bee Design Ltd have stepped into the world of motorcycle racing by becoming the main sponsors of rookie rider Paul Wardell who competes in the premier entry level race series Mini Twins.

Paul is making a good impression in his first year, despite an horrific accident at Brands Hatch where he came off at Paddock Hill and suffered concussion, a compressed spine, bruised ribs and a damaged wrist.

In his comeback race, at Oulton Park, he sped to a podium finish, finishing as second rookie in the second race of the day after improving from his fourth spot in the first.

Paul, who was picked up by the BCL Racing team after just two rounds of the championship said: “It was an awesome second race. I had my chin right on the petrol tank at every opportunity in an attempt to streamline myself and get more speed out of the bike.

“I’d put everything I’d learned into practice and had dropped my lap times from two minutes 11 seconds down to one minute 56 seconds at a track I hadn’t even seen until the morning before.”

Bee Design director Paul Crees, who is a former racing driver in the Mighty Mini’s series said: “As a design consultancy we were looking to get involved in motor sport and Paul provided us with the opportunity to get some exposure within this industry sector.

“ We’re really happy with his progress and it’s great to see that our input has made a difference.”
