THE Caveney Road Surfacing Summer Tennis League entered it’s tenth week of the season with second placed Inkberrow losing 3-1 to Stratford B.
Stratford’s James Smith and partner Nick Harper emerged victorious in straight sets in both rubbers, beating Inkberrow’s Pete Watson and Alan Woodbridge 6-4, 7-5, and then Graham Rankin and Gareth Price 6-4, 6-4.
Stratford’s other pair Graham Marsh and Chris Marrow had a much tougher time, losing to Rankin and Price 6-3, 3-6, 0-1 (6-10) in a championship tie-break, before just edging out Watson and Woodbridge 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).
A clash between the leaders of Division Four Studley B and Chipping Campden B saw the former defeat the latter 3-1 to open up a two point gap at the top.
It was as you were with the other positions, despite third-placed Shipston B drawing 2-2 with bottom-placed Bidford B and Inkberrow D beating last but one placed Claverdon C by a decisive 4-0 scoreline.
