ASTWOOD Bank CC face a massive game in the National Knockout Cup on Saturday when they take on Stockton at home in the last 16.
Bank beat the Northamptonshire side on their way to the semi-finals in 2005 and are bidding for their third quarter final in seven years.
The game starts at 1pm at the ground, in Sambourne Lane, Astwood Bank with the bar open from noon.
Bank faced a trip to Worcestershire League one basement boys Astwood Bank on Saturday but started badly, with the openers dismissed cheaply to leave them at 29-2.
But Alex Robinson(32) and Bryan Melliard(39) batted well to see off the new ball and build a platform for the middle order to exploit.
At 122-4 from 30 overs, Stefan Jagielski(87) and John O'Gordon(43) decided to accelerate the scoring with a stand of 90 from the next ten overs.
With the home side beginning to look demoralised Stefan Jagielski, Andy Alexander (60 not out) and switch-hitting Andjrei Jagielski were able to pile on over 100 runs in the final 10 overs, Bank eventually posting an impressive 323-7.
Dennis Freeman(two for 30), Jonny Summers (two for 27) and Tom Harris bowled aggressively to reduce Coombs Wood to 46-7 after 15 overs.
The relegation candidates weren't prepared to give it up easily and were being helped by some generous Bank fielding.
It took a second spell from Harris (five for 32) to finish them off for 129 all out and secure the full 24 points, meaning the Bank retain third spot in the league.
They are at home to Malvern in the league on Saturday (1.30pm).
