ALVECHURCH FC’s squad returned to training yesterday (Tuesday) with joint manager Simon Redhead confident about the new season.
With only one team going up from the Midland Alliance each season, Redhead recognises it is very important to start well.
He has added Brendan Kelly , a left back from Willenhall and Matty Robinson, a centre forward from Coleshill to last season’s squad.
The only player to leave is midfielder Josh McKenzie who has made the step up to join Bromsgrove Rovers.
Redhead said: “We are looking to add a few more to the squad before the season starts and are having a look at ten trialists over the coming weeks as well who will play a big part in pre-season.”
“It is vital we get off to a good start and then, hopefully, maintain it because last season we were doing well until January or February and then fell away a bit.
“We want to avoid that this time and hit the ground running.”
Alvechurch have confirmed the following friendlies: Saturday July 11-Rushall (a); Saturday July 18-Redditch United (h); Tuesday July 21-Bromsgrove Rovers (h); Saturday July 25-Cadbury (h); Tuesday July 28-Solihull (h).
