JONO Lance is due to wear Worcester Warriors colours again when the Sixways side host Hartpury in a friendly on Saturday (3pm).

The fly-half, who last featured in the blue and gold in December, returned to Warriors at the start of this month after ending his time at Queensland Reds last month.

Since making the move from Australia, Lance has been on an individualised training programme in preparation for the new Premiership campaign on September 1.

Solomons felt it was too early for him to be part of the 28-man squad who travelled to Italy for Worcester’s opening pre-season win at Benetton last Friday.

But the 28-year-old is expected to be in the running to take on Hartpury with uncapped England hooker Jack Singleton and Wales wing Josh Adams also in line to face the Championship side.

“Jono had jet lag when he arrived but we will integrate him into training and hopefully he will be good to go for Hartpury,” Solomons said.

“He played during the Super Rugby season with his last game on July 13 so he had to have a two-week break back home in Australia with his family.

“I didn’t want him to fly over and have to play straight away so since he arrived on August 1 we have worked with him separately, like we have done with Joshy, to get him up to speed again.

“We will have a look at Josh and Singo for that (Hartpury) game as well.”

Lance made eight appearances during a successful three-month stint at Warriors last term.

The playmaker then turned out 15 times for Reds but has now come back to Worcester after agreeing a two-year deal.

“He did really well (in Super Rugby) and kicked well which was good to see,” Solomons added.

“As he is not going to be there for the new Super Rugby season the Reds tried to develop the young 10 that they have got so Jono played quite a bit at full-back.

“But there is no harm in him doing that.

“Jono is a natural 10 but can play at 12 and 15 so he is quite useful.”
