WORCESTERSHIRE Women’s Rapids suffered a double setback in their ECB T20 Division One matches against Middlesex and Lancashire at Kidderminster.
They lost by eight wickets to last season’s runners-up Middlesex and were edged out by six runs against 2017 champions Lancashire.
In game one Rapids were restricted to 111-7 with Sarah Glenn (28) and Lauren Rowles (18) their main contributors.
Despite Izzy Wong (1-14) and Sally Clarke (1-27) picking up a wicket apiece Middlesex reached 113-2 in 15.2 overs.
Rapids pushed Lancashire all the way and restricted them to 105-7 in 20 overs.
Only opener Evelyn Jones with an unbeaten 64 off 62 balls defied the attack with Wong (2-17) and Izzy Watson (2-26) the most successful bowlers.
Clare Boycott (1-16), Glenn (1-14) and Jessica Humby (1-15) were the other wicket-takers.
Rapids' innings followed a similar partner with another opener Chloe Hill contributing 37 but only Rachel Howells (13) of the other players reached double figures.
They closed on 99-9 from 20 overs.
Rapids will next be in action on Sunday at Chester Road against Kent and Yorkshire.
