ASTWOOD Bank failed to put enough runs on the board and suffered a convincing seven wicket beating from Walmley in Birmingham League Division Two this week.

The Bank began brightly enough through openers Tom Pedley who plundered 34 while partner Ryan Blakemore added a further 51.

The pair shared an opening partnership of 51, but from that point the innings went downhill as the Bank were restricted to 153 for eight,

Skipper Steve Adshead said: "Walmley bowled very well and were disciplined in the field.

"None of our guys were able to get in and then kick on with the bat and we just didn't put enough runs on the board."

Walmley made light of their reply, racing to a winning 157 for three in just 26 overs, Danny Bromley making 47 while Sarmad Bhatti blitzed 62 not out.

The Bank will be bidding to bounce straight back this week when they entertain Cannock side C & R Hawkins.

Then on Sunday, the Bank entertain Belbroughton in the National Village competition which gets underway at 2pm.
